Thanks Zaida, for letting me know – my little ‘ol blog got a bit of a mention in the most recent Manhattan Times newspaper (THE Bilingual Newspaper of Northern Manhattan). And most surprising is that the mention certainly doesn’t shy away from who I am and what I like:
“One Monkey Show (okay, I’ll forgive the separation of the name…) has been putting on a show since 2007, adding a bit of spice to the neighborhood blog circuit. Vacillating between Thank-God-It’s-Friday posts that pay homage to the finer men in life, and the more sedate, yet equally attractive photos of Inwood, the blog strikes a fun tone that chronicles the life of “just a guy in love with another guy living at the north tip of Gotham with their dog.”
Nice, huh? You can see the whole thing here – and make note that I’m mentioned along with one of my favorite blogs, Manhattan Street Project!!

This came via my hubby since I’ve been using my “Lose It!” app. to follow caloric intake for the past couple of weeks. Hmmm….very good to know!

At first, I just thought you were cooky. But then, you showed me you had heart AND you could cook. You were so much fun on Top Chef. Last night was such a disappointment. WHY did you listen to your sous chef??? You shot yourself in the foot! You could have won – you were the audience favorite!!!
Oh well, at least you won a car. And you stayed positive. HOOTIE HOO!

My office is on the ground floor. I sit 10 feet from the front door that leads directly to the street. Right outside of the front door is a huge Ingersoll-Rand generator, and 2 men jackhammering. It’s like gotham is saying “good fucking morning, asshole”

Defying Inequality February 24, 2009

Last night we attended “Defying Inequality: the Broadway Concert” – a celebrity benefit for marriage equality. First, let me point out that this show was so packed full of performances and presenters/speakers that it was 4 HOURS LONG!! It opened with a live performance of Marc Shaiman’s “Proposition 8 The Musical” and never lost steam from there. I gave a personal standing ovation to Keith Olbermann as he walked out to read some of his (now) famous editorial about gay marriage. I was touched by the appearances of Jane Fonda, Cyndi Lauper and Rue McClanahan. I was moved by Harvey Fierstein’s letter to the President which ended with “[Mr. President] we need a hero, and you were elected.”
Shoshana Bean with the Gay Men’s Chorus, a pregnant Kelli O’Hara, the cast of Sesame Street, Kerry Butler, and Stephen Schwartz all gave moving and memorable performances. The cast from “Hair” rocked me out with “Let The Sun Shine”, and Mark Indelicato was just too darn cute. I laughed my butt off to Bebe Neuworth singing Musical MadLibs to “All That Jazz.” It was a fantasy performance in support of the civil rights battle of my lifetime. A beautiful evening (despite the cast of “The Little Mermaid” and an odd performance by Lynda Carter), and one I was so glad we were able to attend – even if we were in the second to last row! Definite shout to Purple Haze and their show-stopping dance number (Beyonce, watch out).
There are 1,138 rights that gays and lesbians are currently denied because we cannot marry. Keith and I have a Civil Union – but even that isn’t enough. If some of us don’t have equal rights, do any of us?
