We went above Target last night for dinner with Angel & Paul. Talk about a spread – cheese platter, meats, olives, fruit, bread. It was a beautiful night, and the backyard is LUSH and green, and shady enough for a perfect dinner.
And KILLER drink made from the juice of an entire watermelon (called Fruity & Strong). And Paul is the ONLY vegetarian I know that can grill a steak so well! Keith certainly enjoyed himself, can’t you tell?

Yes, it’s for real. In fact, there were about 5 or 6 different types to choose from in the new Inwood market. I steeled myself – couldn’t resist – munched on bits of octopus on crackers. And it actually wasn’t that bad!

I love me some slow cooked ribs. So when we ventured to the new market near 215th & Broadway, I thought a good test of the new butcher section was to sample the ribs. They turned out quite nice, if I can say so myself. My secret? I like to do a dry rub, and then apply a sauce. Here was what I tried this time…
Dry rub:
Salt
Pepper
Garlic powder
Cumin
Mace
Chipotle powder
Dried mustard
Sauce:
Store bought (gasp) Hickory Smoke BBQ sauce

Days appear silently, stealthily, like a lover crawling into bed. They creep into my room like a hungry cat looking for something to fill its aching stomach. Slowly, the day makes me aware; surfaces my consciousness. It lumbers on like a bear in August. Sluggishly fondling the hours away. Like balls of oil in water the minutes drop slowly. The clock makes no move as I stare intently. As if mockingly, it stands as still as a sentinel. Only marching when necessity demands it. I trudge along the uphill day, pushing and straining to see its end. The day ages slowly and increases in weight. It sits on my shoulders and smiles down into my face. I try not to show my weariness.

I grew up reading Archie comic books as a kid. My Grandparents would buy the comic books throughout the school year and save them up. Then in the summer we’d travel by car, and I’d have a stack of Archie comics to read through. I always assumed Archie would end up with Betty. I mean, come on, she’s the good girl. But I just read the news:
